Making the first move and picking up the phone is often the most difficult step towards facing your relationship problems and working through them. To make this step easier, this page will explain what you can expect when you make your first call to Relate Bromley on:

Our friendly appointment secretaries will take your call. They will ask you if you have been for counselling through Relate before and will explain a little to you about how we work before taking your details.

We will ask for your name, address and as many contact numbers as you are able to give. You may only feel comfortable giving a mobile number, or you may be happy to provide your work telephone number as well as home and work numbers - it's completely up to you, but please remember that the more numbers you provide us with, the easier it will be to contact you when a counselling session becomes available. 

For each number you provide we will ask if there is an answer phone on that number and whether or not it is alright to identify ourselves as Relate when we call or leave a message. We do our very best to respect your confidentiality and will never state who we are if you do not wish for your partner or family to know you have contacted Relate. Our telephone number is also withheld for your extra protection.

We will ask if you will be attending by yourself or with a partner. If you are attending with a partner then we will ask for their name and, if ongoing counselling is accepted after your initial session then any further contact numbers for your partner should also be provided.

We may be able to offer you an appointment right away. If so, we will ask you to pay for your session over the phone by credit or debit card. Paying by card over the phone is safe and secure. If we do not have a slot available that suits you then we will add you to our waiting list and as soon as an appointment becomes available at a time and day that suits you we will be in touch to offer you the slot.
